Class Description:

The 4 day course will cover the required information to help prepare the student for Grade II – V wastewater treatment and collection system examinations. Topics of discussion will include wastewater collection systems, wastewater treatment and laboratory analysis, applied mathematics, preliminary and primary treatment, biological treatment, activated sludge microbiology, process control, activated sludge aeration systems, BNR, BNR process configurations, secondary clarifier operation, disinfection with CL2 and UV, solids handling, sludge thickening, biosolids disposal, process automation and PLCs, pumps and hydraulics, membrane bioreactor systems, asset management and many other topics.

Speaker:

Patrick Wiley – Southern Maine Community College

Patrick is the faculty instructor for the Water Treatment Technology Program at Southern Maine Community College. He has a PhD in Environmental Systems at University of California and holds a Grade V Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License in both Maine and California. He has contributed to many books and publications over the course of his career, and developed the Wastewater Treatment program at Southern Maine Community College.
