Class Description:
The 3 day course will cover the required information to help prepare the student for the Grade I – II treatment and collection system examinations. Topics of discussion will include wastewater collection systems, laboratory analysis, regulations, applied mathematics, pumps and pumping systems, preliminary and primary treatment, secondary treatment processes, activated sludge, secondary clarifier operation, disinfection, solids handling, sludge dewatering, sludge thickening, biosolids disposal, safety, process automation, review questions and many other topics.

Speaker:
Patrick Wiley – Southern Maine Community College
Patrick is the faculty instructor for the Water Treatment Technology Program at Southern Maine Community College. He has a PhD in Environmental Systems at University of California and holds a Grade V Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License in both Maine and California. He has contributed to many books and publications over the course of his career, and developed the Wastewater Treatment program at Southern Maine Community College.
